Mass-Timber Architectural Practice

Houses fabricated with structural precision in slow-growth spruce. Assembled quietly on site in under twelve days.

We design and engineer high-performance prefabricated homes in cross-laminated timber (CLT) and glulam. Grounded in Nordic climate physics, built for low-embodied carbon, zero wet trades, and generational permanence.

01 / Our Position

Why we reject concrete foundations, wet plaster, and site-built guesswork.

Traditional domestic construction in Northern Europe is an erratic process: wet concrete curing in damp rain, framing warping in cold snaps, and thermal bridging hidden behind gypsum board.

We believe a house is a precision machine for shelter. It should be cut by 5-axis CNC routers inside dry workshop bays, transported on flatbeds with airtight membranes already pre-welded, and placed upon reversible screw-pile foundations with millimeter tolerances.

Our Immutable Rule
"If an envelope element cannot be dry-jointed, demounted without destruction, or composted after 80 years, we do not draw it into our details."
01 / ENVELOPE

Monolithic CLT & Exposed Grain

Solid cross-laminated timber plates act simultaneously as load-bearing structure, vapour barrier, fire barrier, and finished interior surface. No synthetic drywall; only breathable biological mass.

Spruce C24 · Formaldehyde-free PUR bond
02 / EMBODIED CARBON

Carbon Negative from Day Zero

For every cubic metre of timber used in our models, 0.9 tonnes of atmospheric carbon dioxide is locked in the fabric. We harvest exclusively from PEFC-certified Swedish & Norwegian forestry that plants 3 trees per tree felled.

EPD verified · Cradle-to-Grave LCA
03 / SITE INTEGRITY

Reversible Ground Screws

We eliminate poured concrete strip footings wherever ground physics permit. Galvanized ground screws or micro-pads anchor directly to bedrock and soil with zero soil sealing and zero disruption to tree roots.

90% reduced ground excavation
04 / THERMAL PHYSICS

Continuous Hygroscopic Envelopes

Dense woodfibre batts coupled with triple-glazed argon timber-aluminum windows create a diffusion-open envelope that naturally regulates indoor humidity to an optimal 45–55% year-round.

U-value: 0.10 W/m²K · N50 < 0.6 h⁻¹
02 / The House Series

Four Standard Typologies. Fully Customizable.

Each model is engineered to Passivhaus standards, fabricated in factory modules, and delivered flat-packed or pre-assembled to remote plots.

03 / Envelope Anatomy

Layered like a high-altitude expedition garment.

Every millimetre of our wall buildup is diffusion-open. Moisture escapes freely outward while cold air and bulk water are blocked by double-taped monolithic rainscreens and ventilated cavity battens.

Standard Exterior Wall Build-up (Total: 342 mm) U = 0.108 W/m²K
L1
Vertical Siberian Larch or Charred Pine Cladding 22 mm

Open-jointed rainscreen naturally high in resins, left untreated to weather to a silver patina.

L2
Ventilated Drainage Cavity & Insect Screen 38 mm

Pressure-equalized rear ventilation zone preventing stagnant dampness and thermal bridging.

L3
Steico Universal Woodfibre Sarking Board 60 mm

High-density vapour-permeable thermal break with tongue-and-groove weatherseal.

L4
Steico Flex 036 Timber Stud Infill Insulation 120 mm

Natural cellulose timber fibres offering exceptional thermal mass (specific heat capacity: 2,100 J/kg·K).

L5
3-Layer Cross Laminated Timber (CLT Core) 100 mm

Visible visual-grade Nordic Spruce, oiled with natural plant waxes. Structural rigidity & airtight core.

Thermal Simulation

Indoor Climate Stability

Thanks to high decrement delay (phase shift of 13.4 hours), exterior temperature swings from -20°C in winter to +32°C in summer do not penetrate the interior thermal mass.

Phase Shift (Decrement Delay) 13.4 Hours
Standard lightweight timber frame is only ~5.5 hours.
Airtightness (Blower Door Test) 0.34 ACH @ 50Pa
Passivhaus requirement is <0.60 ACH. UK Building Regs is <5.0.
Indoor Acoustic Decibel Attenuation Rw 49 dB
Heavy solid CLT effectively attenuates low-frequency wind turbulence.
